Exmoor Photography Red Deer Rut Special blog 2016
Another great rut season done and dusted (almost), it has
really flown by this October. I can’t believe it’s nearly all over. I always
look forward to it so much and then it’s all over before you know it.
We have shared some wonderful moments sharing this annual
spectacle with our customers this season and even managed to avoid all the
‘crowds’ at the weekends (we run the Red deer rut courses on weekdays only). It’s
also been great to see and catch up with some of the regular deer watchers that
we see every October.
I personally feel it has been one of the best seasons ever, many
lovely new and returning stags to photograph, good weather and great customers
who did exactly what we asked of them during the stalks. Thus, giving everyone
the opportunity to take plenty of superb images, without disturbing the deer or
anyone else. It makes such a difference
when you have the right equipment including the right lens and camouflage
clothing. It also helps a bit that Jamie and I know what we are doing and have
years of local knowledge LOL. Talking of Jamie what would we do without him, fantastic
stalking as always and great company. Although I have been stalking deer for
over 35 years now, unfortunately since my accident in 2001, my body doesn’t
work as quickly as it used to. Therefore, Jamie’s understanding of the deer and
my advice makes for a great team effort. I cannot forget to mention Alison who not only
does most of the bookings and customers communications but also prepares
lunches and cakes for every course. Thanks ‘team’ you have been brilliant as
always. We could all probably do with a rest now, but we go straight back to
our other course types including landscapes in November. The autumn colours are looking phenomenal this
year so I can’t wait to start. We still have spaces available if you want to
book or know anyone that may be interested in seeing Exmoor’s autumnal spectacle.
The Red Deer Rut photography courses have become so popular
now that we had to turn away a few people this year as we were fully booked by
August. I hate doing this but we only do the Red Deer Ruts during the peak
weeks of the season. We are all about photographing the rut season itself and
obviously the photography course. We run
other wildlife themed photography courses during the year if you are unable to
make the rut. Please look at the website for more info. Alison has already
taken some bookings for next season rut (2017).
Just one of our reviews from ‘Bob’ who attended this years
Red Deer Rut Photography Course with us here at Exmoor Photography. All
customer reviews can be found on trip advisor & on the website.

As always to book your courses with us here at Exmoor
Photography, please contact Alison who will answer any questions and help with
your booking. You can also book and pay online by visiting the website here
Don’t forget we run our photography course all year.
